NON-PROFITS
WHAT WE DO
Comprehensive Legal Advice and Services for Oregon Non-Profit Organizations, including Filing for 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status
As an entrepreneur himself, Joe has helped establish and run non-profit organizations, and currently serves as president of the board of directors for a national 501(c)(3) organization. JNF Law has worked with tax-exempt organizations in a wide variety of contexts, such as formation, qualifying for tax-exempt status, grants, and revenue generation.
We can help you navigate both the formation and regulatory landscape for 501(c)(3) and other tax-exempt organizations. The formation requirements of starting a non-profit business can be daunting, and the annual reporting requirements can be confusing and, at times, overwhelming. That’s what we’re here for.
Here are just a few examples of how we can help navigate the 501(c)(3) and non-profit landscape:
-
Analyzing the costs and benefits of forming a non-profit or converting to a non-profit.
-
Preparing nonprofit bylaws and articles of incorporation.
-
Helping select a representative and meaningful board of directors.
-
Preparing a conflict of interest policy.
-
Obtaining business permits and registering with the Oregon Department of Justice charitable activities section.
-
Risk management and insurance procurement.
-
Preparing the application for tax-exempt status (typically, Form 1023).
-
Initial registration, and filing of annual reports.
